The short version

What we collect

Visiting the site. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes request data (such as your connection address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Analytics and cookies. On the public pages we measure how the site is used with two services. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us visit counts and does not use cookies or follow you across sites.Google Analytics counts visits and a small set of actions (for example, that an export was copied or a share link was created). It uses cookies named _ga and _ga_… that last up to 13 months.

We tell Google only which kind of page you are on (for example “the builder” rather than the full web address), a fixed page title, the website you came from (its domain only), your language and screen size, and the action. We never send your colors, your code, the contents of a share link, email addresses, or tokens. We have turned off Google’s advertising features and Google signals, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising. We load neither service on account, project, report, or sign-in pages.

Your choice about Google Analytics. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, or if we cannot tell where you are, we ask first: a banner lets you accept or reject Google Analytics cookies, and Google Analytics is not loaded unless you accept. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page; rejecting later stops the measurement and removes the Google Analytics cookies we set. Your choice is remembered on your device for about six months and then we ask again. Elsewhere we do not show the banner and Google Analytics runs by default. Everywhere, if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load Google Analytics. You can also block cookies in your browser settings or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Early access (closed). We no longer collect early-access sign-ups. If you joined the early-access list before it closed, we keep your email address, the optional website address you entered (without anything after a ? or #; we never fetched or scanned it), the time, and the version of this policy that was shown next to the form. We use it only to contact you about access to the ColorLint audit, as described when you joined. We do not send automatic marketing email. The entries are kept in a small database at Cloudflare until you ask us to remove yours.

Person check. Some tools use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person rather than a bot is using them, and a limit on repeated attempts that briefly uses your connection address; the address is not stored.

What is kept on your device

Who we share data with

Cloudflare (hosting, security, Web Analytics, the early-access database, and the person check) and Google (Google Analytics, when it is allowed). They act on our behalf, except that Google also uses Analytics data under its own terms as described in its documentation. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

International transfers

Our providers, including Google and Cloudflare, operate in several countries, so your data may be processed outside your own country, including in India and the United States.

How long we keep it

Early-access entries are kept until you ask us to remove them. Google Analytics data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account. Cloudflare keeps its own request and analytics data under its terms.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, to withdraw your consent, and to complain about how it is handled. Write to hello@colorlint.comand we will respond.

Children

ColorLint is not directed to children under 18.
